Excellent play of Jovo Stanojevic

Jovo Stanojevic recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds

Red Star scored the second triumph in the European League, particularly thanks to Jovo Stanojevic's excellent play, who scored 30 points (12/15 2PFG, 6/8 FT) and recorded eight rebounds in 27 minutes. After a bad start (Olympia led by 13-3 in the 6th minute, 15-7 in the 8th minute), Red Star's coach Vladislav Lucic sent young Tica to the field, who, together with Stanojevic and Lukovski (10 assists), mostly benefited to the Yugoslav triumph.

Yugoslavia has remained without representative in Saporte Cup, since Radnicki from Belgrade was eliminated in the 1/16 finals by Turkish team Darussafaka - the score in Belgrade was 77-66 for Yugoslav team and in a return game 75-50 for Turks.

Radnicki started well the match in Istanbul, leading in fifth minute with 13-7, but then it allowed the hosts to lead at the end of a first half with 40-25. The Belgrade team got back to the match in the second half, having a chance to score a good result, but after mistakes of most experienced players of Radnicki, Ranko Carapic and Sladjan Stojkovic, the players of Darussafaka won more luckily than handy with a suitable result, placing themselves into the quarterfinals.

Buducnost from Podgorica suffered the eighth defeat in European League, paying the tribute to the unorganized and confusing play. The team of ASVEL lead for the first time in 24th minute with 36-35, and since that moment, it controlled the game and the result. Podgorica players tried to respond the three points shots from rough positions, but mostly without success, what was abundantly used by the French players.
