Boskov in two minds about the squad of the Yugoslav national team

Vujadin Boskov

Edem, Belgium, June 16 (Tanjug) - After unexpectedly weak play and draw with Slovenia at the start of the European Championship in Belgium and the Netherlands, Yugoslav national team coach Vujadin Boskov is, according to the general opinion, forced to make changes in the squad of the Yugoslav national team.

The changes have also been caused by the fact that one of the key players of our team, Sinisa Mihajlovic, will not play since he had been shown a red card in the match with the Slovenians.

Yugoslav national team coach is in two minds about who is to replace Mihajlovic. The candidates are Goran Bunjevcevic, Goran Djorovic and Nisa Saveljic.

"We have to agree with Miroslav Djukic, , who is a standard defense player with Mihajlovic, about who he would prefer to play with. The decision on who is to replace Mihajlovic will depend on it", Boskov stressed.

Apart from that, Boskov is in dilemma about which attack player will start the match against the Norwegians - Savo Milosevic, who scored two goals against Slovenia, or Darko Kovacevic, who failed to give his best at the match.

"Both of them are brilliant players with remarkable sense of how to score a goal, but it seems to me the two of them cannot play together", Boskov said.

Yugoslav national team coach was also asked about his opinion on the current form of one of our most prominent national team players Predrag Mijatovic.

"It is a fact that this year is the most unhappy year in Mijatovic's career. He underwent a complicated knee surgery, after that suffered Achilles tendon injury. He played only 13 games for his club Fiorentina this year. He is a remarkable and talented football player and it is upon us to make it possible for him to get again into form as soon as possible", Boskov stressed.

Yugoslav coach especially praised Mateja Kezman, young striker from Partizan, saying he is an extremely mature high quality player, though he is only 21.

"Our plan is to gradually introduce Mateja Kezman into game and we are convinced that he surely represents the future of the Yugoslav football", Vujadin Boskov concluded.
