Brussels, June 22nd - The Spanish "raised from the dead" three times, but the Yugoslavs are moving further regardless of their losing the game, the Brussels` press writes today on the occasion of the lastnight`s dramatic match between Yugoslavia and Spain in Bruges.
Although the analysis should be made later, when the passions "cool off", many football experts critiqued the way the match was refereed, above all the non-existing penalty shot in favor of Spain, in injured time. The criteria for showing yellow cards was not also balanced, and all that was not in favor of "the blue team".
London, June 22nd - The penalty shot for Spain was not justified and there was no penalty shot, British commentators mark.
British reporters from Belgium judge that French referee Veissiere probably received instructions from European Federation (UEFA) to be more stern towards Yugoslav football players, because in the last two games Yugoslav team had two sent off players.
Regardless of these doubts, the unique judgment in Britain is that the match between Yugoslavia and Spain has been the best match in the European Championship so far.
Rome, June 22nd - "Spain's qualification is a miracle", this title dominates the front pages of Italian sports journals and the occasion is lastnight`s "killer" match between Yugoslavia and Spain (3:4) in group C of European Football Championship.
"One can expect strange surprises from Yugoslav team, which so far in EURO 2000 created unbelievable turnovers" Italian sports journals comment lasnight`s match in Bruges.
Paris, June 22nd - French press writes about lastnight`s match Yugoslavia - Spain, which was played in group C of European Football Championship in Bruges, as an unseen sports event, even as a "miracle", according to "Le Monde".
The journal "Liberation" in its comment of the match points out that the score was a real surprise, since "Spanish players were undoubtedly the only ones who believed they would be qualified".
All leading French journals in the reports about the match say that the Spanish scored two goals during the injured time, and they spare the French referee Gilles Veissiere from any critic.
Edegen, Belgium, June 22nd (Tanjug) - After the two Yugoslav fans ran into the field of Bruges` stadium, during the lastnight`s match between Yugoslavia and Spain, Yugoslav Football Association (YFA) will probably be punished.
"According to UEFA rules any country participating in the European Championship is responsible for the behaviour of its football fans. That is why ticket control was rigorous in the last three months and the tickets could be bought only personally with a signature", secretary general of YFA, Branko Bulatovic, said.
Bulatovic considered that UEFA surely would not miss a chance to financially punish YFA, but he could not assess the amount of the punishment.
Bulatovic did not want to comment the writings of some foreign journals, which speculated that Yugoslavia would be disqualified from European Championship because of the incident with the referee by the end of the match and because of the two fans who ran into the field.
After the match between Yugoslavia and Spain (3:4), an irresponsible spectator hit with a metal coin French referee Gilles Veissiere on the brow while the three referees were walking through tunnel to the dressing-rooms. The referee asked for medical assistance. That was the cause for some foreign media to immediately insert thesis on the possibility of disqualification of the Yugoslav national team from the European Championship, although the thesis was unfounded.
June 22nd - Goran Djorovic injured his right leg muscle in the match against Spain and it is questionable whether he will recover until the quarterfinal match against Holland which is due on Sunday, June 25th.
Vladimir Jugovic`s back is still rather stiff and he feels strong pain, but less intense than yesterday.
Because Slavisa Jokanovic was sent off during the match with the Spanish, Boskov will not certainly be able to count on him in the next match.
June 22nd - Jose Maria Garcia-Aranda from Spain will be the referee on the quarterfinal match between Holland and Yugoslavia in Rotterdam.
Aranda is known to Yugoslav football public, because he was the referee at the last qualification match for the European Championship between Croatia and Yugoslavia in Zagreb (2:2). What is especially interesting is that the Spanish referee was also at the eight-finals match of the World Championship in France 1998 between Yugoslavia and Holland. Just to remind you that the score was 2:1 for Holland.
