Kutaisi, Georgia, August 2 - Red Star Belgrade
advanced to the Champions League third qualifying round on
Wednesday 4-2 on aggregate after losing 2-0 to Torpedo Kutaisi
in the second leg.
FC Torpedo Kutaisi fought hard in an attempt to overturn a four-goal deficit from the first leg. Gia Imedadze put the home side ahead in the 42nd minute by
beating Alexandar Kocic from close range and David Dzhanashia
sealed the win for the Georgian champions in the final minute.
The Yugoslav champions, resting several first choice
players, Lalatovic, Lerinc and Pjanovic, were content to stay back and protect their first leg lead.
Red Star striker Goran Drulic, who scored twice in Belgrade a week ago, missed two chances, including an effort which struck the woodwork midway through the second half.
Red Star now face Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kyiv for a spot
in the Champions League group stage.
