Red Star meets Leicester on September 21st

Red Star stadium in Belgrade

Nyon, September 8th - Second leg match of the first round of the UEFA Cup between Red Star, the Yugoslav champion and Leicester, premier league member, will be played, instead on September 28th, one week earlier, on September 21st in Belgrade, UEFA decided.

European Football Union (UEFA) decided on the new date of the second leg match after it received assurances from the Yugoslav authorities that the visiting Leicester team will have full safety. Management of the English club has, advised by the Foreign Office, refused the possibility of Leicester to play the match on September 28th in Belgrade, allegedly due to the bad safety situation which could happen in Serbia after the elections on September 24th.

UEFA ha advised representatives of the English club not to take any supporters with them to the game.

The first match, in which the English premier league member will be the host, will be played on September 14th in Leicester.
