Yugoslav swimmer, Vladan Markovic, set a new national record in 200m butterfly - 2:00:11 - which is 1,19 seconds better than his former record.

At the end, out of 46 contestants he was - 21st , thus he did not manage to get into semifinals.

Yugoslav shooting representatives, Nemanja Mirosavljev and Stevan Pletikosic, did not place themselves into the finals of Olympic air rifle tournament.

Mirosavljev placed 27th, with 587 hit circles, while Pletikosic with 583 circles, placed 38th.

In the match of the second round of A group at the Olympic handball tournament, Yugoslav national team in Sydney defeated Egypt national selection with 25:22 (11:14).

Yugoslav and Egyptian handball national teams have today, played two different half-times of a very interesting and aggressive game, full of turns and excitement. The "blue team " earned their victory because of more secure and more organized play in the second part of the match, most of all thanks to the excellent goalkeeper, Dejan Peric.

Yugoslav table tennis players, Slobodan Grujic and Ilija Lupulesku, placed themselves into the eight finals in double, since they defeated German double Timo Bohl and Joerg Rosskopf 21-18, 21-18 in the second preliminary round.
