Red Star/Leicester UEFA Cup match in Vienna
Geneva, September 21 - The UEFA Cup first round second leg match between Red Star Belgrade and Leicester City will take place in Vienna on September 28, UEFA announced on Wednesday.
The tie was moved from Belgrade because Red Star, according to UEFA announcement, could not guarantee the safety of Leicester players and officials.
Leicester appealed to UEFA for a change of venue after the Foreign Office said they
feared a general election four days before the fixture could trigger civil unrest in Belgrade.
Angered by the announcement, Red Star appealed. But Mike Lee, UEFA's director of
communications, said: "We have rejected the appeal and agreed Vienna as the location
for the match.
The match will take place at the Gerhard-Hanappi stadium, the home of Rapid Vienna,
which has a capacity of 19,300.
