Yugoslav volleyball national team qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic games, having defeated today in Sidney South Korea with 3:2 (24:26, 25:20, 25:23, 19:25, 15:8).The opponent in the quarterfinals will be the national team of Netherlands.
Yugoslav volleyball players allowed themselves the luxury to be during two sets in the subordinate position. In those moments Koreans achieved everything. They played well at net, and in the field they were undefeatable. Fast and quick, they caught all balls easily directed to their part of the field. However, it must be admitted that our volleyball players were much of help to the Koreans' excellent performance, by showing a lot of ups and downs.
Yugoslav team started wonderfully in the third set. They took the lead with 13:5 and then stopped. The Koreans made an incredible serial of 9:0 and led with 14:13.That was the sign for our volleyball players to get serious. Finally, that part of the match ended on their behalf with 25:23.
In the fourth set "the blue ones" balanced again, thus this part of the match went to Korea. In time-break Yugoslav team played as it should play during the whole tournament.
