Yugoslav basketball team won the sixth place, after being defeated by the Italian team in the match for the fifth place with 69:59 (33:31).
Yugoslav basketball players ended 6th placed at the Olympic tournament in Sydney, which represents the worst placing of the Yugoslav basketball national team since its first appearance at the Olympics in Rome in 1960.
Yugoslav team, obviously not motivated enough, performed a loose game, in today's match, and as an additional handicap Dejan Bodiroga was severely injured.

Yugoslavia did not manage to place in the finals of the Olympic water polo tournament, having lost in the semi-finals from Hungary with 7:8 (2:3, 3:2, 2:2, 0:1).
The Yugoslav players saved very well, but lunged less decisively than their rival.
Our team missed the opportunity to determine the match in the third quarter, when it had a few chances to take the lead of two points and decide the winner.
In the last part of the match, the Hungarians took the lead with 8:7 and saving firmly, managed to save the net of their goal in last five minutes and approach the precious victory.
"We have been even throughout the game. I cannot explain how we missed the chance, inexperience might come into consideration.
We were not afraid, that is for sure. We are sorry to play tomorrow "only" for the bronze", stated the Yugoslav team player Danilo Ikodinovic after the match.

Yugoslav men's kayak four (Igor Kovacevic, Sasa Vujanic, Jozef Soti and Dragan Zoric) won the 9th place in the 1000 meters final race. The Yugoslavs ended the race with a time of 3:02, 316.
