Red Star wrongly interpreted the Book of Regulations

Belgrade, December 1 - UEFA has registered the UEFA Cup second round second-leg match between the home team Celta Vigo and the Belgrade Red Star (Celta won 5-3 to advance to the third round 5-4 on aggregate) with the official result of 3-0. The reason for this was the fact that Red Star's Nenad Lalatovic and Stevo Glogovac played each with three yellow cards which is not allowed under the European Football Federation Book of Regulations on competition.

"I have made a mistake", Red Star Secretary Misa Marinkovic admitted. "I have simply wrongly interpreted the Book of Regulations which has changed. Up to this year yellow cards from qualifications have not been transferred, only the red ones. UEFA has obviously made a new move with which Red Star was not familiar…"
