BASKETBALL:
Yugoslavia without defeat continues to the second phase of championship

No surprise: Divac (left, Yugoslavia) stops Bilba

Toulouse, France, 23rd June - Yugoslav basketball players won the first place in group "A" of the 31st European Championship as they tonight, with their excellent play in the second half-time beat France - the host.

After bad play, particularly in the attack, in the first 20 minutes, the Yugoslav team was in minus of six points (27:33). In continuation, however, there was an unexpected shift - the players of the current European leader improves their defense and play much faster in the attack. Thus, by a series of points they reach the score peaceful end of the match.

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, on 24th and 25th June, are free days, while the Championship continues on Saturday, 26th June with matches of the second phase. The competitors of the Yugoslav national team will be Spain, Slovenia and Russia.
