Pau, France, 27th June - In its fifth match at the Men's Basketball European Championship, the Yugoslav national team got Spain in the French town Pau realizing the score of 77:63 (38:35), and thus finally confirmed its first place in group E. Therefore, it has the opportunity to meet with the easiest rival from group F in quarter-finals.

The starting five of the Yugoslav national team - Bodiroga, Gurovic, Loncar, Divac and Danilovic - quickly achieved the advantage that already in the 12th minute amounted to 12 points - 23:11.
In the first eleven minutes of the second half-time Spanish were knocked out with a series of the Yugoslav team of 24:9 that lead to the score of 62:44.
One of the most outstanding players of the winning team was Milan Gurovic who with his play (10 points and 9 rebounds) confirmed his indisputable quality. Yugoslav coach Zeljko Obradovic did not introduce Lukovski and Stojakovic into the play due to the injuries.
Tomorrow, on 28th of June, the Yugoslav national team plays its last match in group E and its rival will be the Russian national team.
Location: Hall in Pau. Attendance: 6,000.
