YUGOSLAVIA - Netherlands 1-3

Wiener Neustadt, Austria, Sept 9 - In the game with no significance, since Yugoslav volleyball players have already secured the first place in the group thanks to the beating of Czech Republic against France 3-2, they were defeated by the current Olympics Champion, Netherlands team, with the result 1-3 (25-17, 21-25, 21-25, 22-25). In the semi-finals, on September 11, Yugoslavia will meet with current World Champion, Italian national team, which was unexpectedly defeated in the last round of the "A" group by Russia 1-3.

Since the game wasn't to decide a thing, from the beginning, coach of the Yugoslav team Zoran Gajic decided to leave the best players Vladimir Grbic, Mester, Batez and Vujevic rest and since the second set Nikola Grbic as well.

Yugoslav volleyball players commenced well, won the first set 25-17 but the fighting players of Netherlands managed to win the next three sets and accomplish their first victory at the Championship.
