Dragan Stojkovic decided to stay in Japan

Captain of Yugoslav national football team Dragan Stojkovic, despite several offers of European clubs, extended his contract with Japanese Nagoya Grampus till the end of the next season.

- I was considering a few offers from Austrian and French clubs, who had been interested in signing contract with me, but I decided to stay in Japan. I am satisfied with the terms of a new contract. Also I want to help Nagoya to win champion's title.

Lazio's midfielder Dejan Stankovic is in the media focus. Inter Milan is ready to pay transfer fee of DM 45m for Yugoslav player, but the owner of Lazio Sergio Cragnoti decided not to let Stankovic move to Inter.


Spanish Pamesa finally reached the best score in the history of Spanish basketball, recording 20 successive wins (12 in Spanish League and 8 in Saporta Cup). Pamesa's coach Miki Vukovic, as he made an outstanding success, is offered to sign life-long contract with his club.

In the city derby AC Roma thrashed Lazio 4-1 at Olympic stadium. AC Roma practically clinched the game in the first half with all four goals. Only goal for Lazio, which had been unbeaten this season, was made by Sinisa Mihajlovic from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute. Lazio keeps the top spot of the standings, but now it is ahead of Juventus only on goal difference.

Juventus kept the pressure on Lazio with a 3-1 victory over Milan at the Delle Alpi stadium. After a pass at a far post, substitute Darko Kovacevic headed home for a 3-1 lead. It was Kovacevic's first goal in Italian championship.

Inter made a comfortable 6-0 win over Lecce. Vladimir Jugovic, who had been out of the pitch through the injury for several months, appeared in the Inter's starting line-up and volleyed into the net with 37th minute.


Two more Yugoslavs were scorers this weakend. Celta Vigo, perhaps the most-in-form team, kept the second place in the table with 3-1 away win over Valladolid. Goran Djorovic opened the scoring with a header in the 29th minute.

Mallorca also made a win as a guest - 2-1 over Espanyol. Jovan Stankovic put Mallorca ahead from a free-kick.



Predrag Stojakovic (Kings)

Beating the Houston Rockets 110-105, Sacramento Kings won their 6th straight game. With only one defeat in seven games, Kings made the best start of the season in their history. Vlade Divac scored 6 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, added two steals, one assist and one block for 24 minute. Predrag Stojakovic had 7 points and 3 rebounds for the Kings.
