Goran Djorovic

Yugoslav football international Goran Djorovic, currently member of Spanish first league football team, Celta Vigo, has been punished with 3 million pesetas (17,700 $) and suspended for an indefinite period of time for refusing to play left back in the match against Rajo Vallecano.

His position was further impeded by Spanish media, reporting that his behavior was the result of an already arranged business with Real Madrid.

Celta's official statement stresses that the club will decide later on for how long the player of the Yugoslav national team will be suspended.

Yugoslav footballer playing for Lazio from Rome, Sinisa Mihajlovic, was punished with two games for kicking Marco Ferrante during the Italian championship 20th round match with Torino (Lazio won 4-2).

After a conversation with the coach Sven Goran Eriksson and Sergio Cragnoti, owner of the club, Mihajlovic stated:

"I apologize to everyone. To Lazio, the fans and Ferrante. My reaction was impulsive, but I realized that it was a serious mistake. I hope my absence at the field will be unnoticed."

Lazio will not be in position to count on its best player in the most important matches against Parma and AC Milan.

In the 19th round of the Greek basketball championship, Panathinaikos suffered a shocking defeat (70-71) in their own hall by Marousi, a team from the bottom of the standings, which intensified the struggle for the champion of Greece, since the leading position on the standings is shared by three teams - Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and AEK.

Zeljko Obradovic

It is evident that Panathinaikos is in a sort of crisis and that the coach Zeljko Obradovic will have much trouble facing the most important matches in the Greek Championship and Cup, as well as Euroleague.

Most efficient players of Panathinaikos were Yugoslav basketball players, Bodiroga with 16 and Rebraca with 13 points.

Olympiakos defeated Sporting, a team at the bottom of the standings, with 79-53, and with a total of 15 triumphs and 4 defeats remains in the competition for the champion of Greece. Most efficient Yugoslav players in this team were Tomic with 16, Vukcevic with 10 and Tarlac with 2 points and 6 rebounds.
