First triple-double this season: Vlade Divac

Sacramento Kings beat Philadelphia 76ers 117-95 at Arco Arena, on April 2. Kings' center Yugoslav Vlade Divac recorded his first "triple-double" this season, adding 14 points (4/9 2P FG, 6/6 FT), 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 35 minutes. Another Yugoslav player in the Sacramento, forward Predrag Stojakovic scored 17 points (4/10 2P FG, 3/4 3P FG) in 24 minutes.

After round 31 of the Spanish Football League La Coruna still keeps the top spot on the table, two points ahead of Barcelona. Hero of a 3-1 away win over Sevilla was Yugoslav defender Slavisa Jokanovic who scored the first two goals for La Coruna, in the 11th and 13th minute.


AEK, coached by Yugoslav Dusan Ivkovic, after 19 years won the second Greek Men's Basketball Cup of its history after wining in a dramatic final Panathinaikos by 59-57.

The final match against Panathinaikos, coached by Yugoslav Zeljko Obradovic, wasn't so nice in technical basis but was dramatic. Panathinaikos had a 51-44 lead three minutes and 30 seconds remaining. With two consecutive three-pointers from Koronios and Bowie, AEK equalized 52-52 with one minute and 30 seconds remaining and took the lead through Bowie. Koronios with 2/2 free throws made it 59-57 with 10 seconds to go. Koronios won a new foul but missed both free throws and in the last offence of Panathinaikos Nando Gentile failed to score.

Yugoslav Dejan Bodiroga, Panathinaikos forward, scored nine points, while another Yugoslav in Panathinaikos, centre Zeljko Rebraca, who took the title of the MVP of the Final-Four although his team lost, made 18 points.


Despite a 51-60 away defeat by Spanish UNICAJA, coached by Yugoslav Bozidar Maljkovic, in the second-leg final match, Limoges, coached by another Yugoslav Dusko Ivanovic, won their 4th Corac Cup thanks to a 80-58 win in the first match in France.

Grubin

Italian Lavezzini Basket is a Ronchetti Cup winner after beating Spanish Sandra Gran Canaria 64-60 at home and 63-56 in the second-leg final match.

Yugoslavia's Gordana Grubin was the best Lavezzini Basket's scorer in both matches. In the first-leg match in Italy, Grubin made 16 points (5/9 2P FG, 0/6 3P FG, 6/7 FT), while in the second-leg match in Spain she recorded the same number of points (3/8 2P FG, 2/6 3P FG, 4/5 FT), six rebounds and six assists.

Euroleague, quarter-final play-offs, third matches - Efficiency of the Yugoslav players

Predrag Drobnjak (Efes Pilsen): six points (2/2 2P FG, 0/4 3P FG, 2/2 FT), five rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes.

Barcelona (Spain) - Union Olimpija (Slovenia) 71-66 (32-31)

Milan Gurovic (Barcelona): 19 points (3/3 2P FG, 4/4 3P FG, 1/2 FT), four rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes.

Maccabi (Israel) - Winnington Group (Italy) 79-64 (43-42)

Marko Jaric (Winnington Group): five points (1/1 2P FG, 1/1 3P FG) in 26 minutes.

In the Men's European Handball Champions' League final Spanish Barcelona will play German Kiel.

In the semi-finals matches Barcelona won over Slovenian Lasko (59-52 on aggregate), while, despite a 13-22 defeat in Zagreb by host Badel, Yugoslav Nenad Perunicic's Kiel qualified for the final thanks to the excellent first match and convincing 32-21 win.
