Yugoslavia - Slovenia 13-4

Hanover, Germany, May 6 - The Yugoslav water polo national team successfully started at Olympic Games Men's Water polo Qualification Tournament, since it easily defeated the Slovenian national team in the first round with the score 13-4 (4-3, 3-0, 3-0, 3-1).

Only in the first quarter of the game it seemed that Slovenian players would be equal opponents for the Yugoslavs. What happened later only confirmed the difference in quality of the two teams. Yugoslav goalkeeper veteran Aleksandar Sostar was great, defense looked organized and disciplined, while Yugoslav players were concentrated and very successful in the offense, especially in the situations of man-up (4/4).

Yugoslavia is to play the Netherlands in the second round on May 7.
