Darko Kovacevic celebrates after scoring against Bari

After two rounds of play in the Italian Football Serie A, Juventus are again top of the table, just as they were most of the time last season. Juventus only secured their 2-0 victory in the last minute of the game, as Bari put on a brave fight.

The Turinese side took the lead very early in the game. Yugoslavian striker Darko Kovacevic was the player who scored after three minutes. Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids past the ball to French player Zinedine Zidane. His cross was tipped in by Kovacevic. It was his second goal of the season in as many matches.

In the last minute of the game Juventus were awarded a penalty. Conte was brought down inside the box by Mazzarelli. It was French midfielder Zidane who had no trouble converting from the spot.

Italian champions Lazio beat Perugia 3-0 in the Italian Serie A. Two minutes before the break, an Argentine international Hernan Crespo scored on his league debut for Lazio, heading home Yugoslav Sinisa Mihajlovic's free-kick.

The Rome side doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Nedved was brought down by Marco Materazzi and Mihajlovic slammed home the penalty.

The game was put beyond Perugia's reach ten minutes later when substitute Simone Inzaghi was given plenty of room to turn and place a right-foot shot past goalkeeper Andrea Mazzantini.
