Greece - YUGOSLAVIA 1-1 (0-1)

Mihajlo Pjanovic, Yugoslavia's striker

Xanthi, Greece, December 13 - A late equaliser by defender Leonidas Vokolos saved Greece in the match at Xanthi against a new-look Yugoslavia side that was missing most of its key players from Euro 2000.

Basinas, who plays his club football for Panathinaikos, turned the ball into his own net in the ninth minute, forcing the hosts to chase the game against a confident and fluent Yugoslavia.

Basinas missed his chance to make amends on the hour when his spot-kick was well saved by goalkeeper Aleksandar Kocic.

Vokolos levelled in the 86th minute, when he stole forward for a simple tap-in after a Giorgos Georgiadis cross caused chaos in the visiting defence.
