Yugoslavia gives Portugal no chances

PORTUGAL - YUGOSLAVIA 0-3 (14-25, 15-25, 16-25)

Porto, PORTUGAL, May 20 - Yugoslavia started this match, playing volleyball at a very high level. They didn't make almost any mistakes, were excellent on their defense and blocking and developed some fantastic attacks.

In the second set with players like Ivan Miljkovic and Igor Vusurovic the Yugoslavian attack was almost perfect giving no chance to the defense of the Portuguese team.

In the third set the Portuguese Head Coach, Juan Diaz, made some changes with the players and Portugal played better volleyball. Rogerio Lopes, Marco Silva and Rui Castro gave more confidence to the Portuguese team and this set was at certain level more even. On the other side was a team that didn't make things easier and won this match.

PORTUGAL - YUGOSLAVIA 0-3 (21-25, 14-25, 25-27)

Porto, PORTUGAL, May 19 - Yugoslavia won the first set thanks to the good attacks of Ivan Mijkovic and Igor Vusurovic. Portugal played well, with good serves but the reception, and the blocking were not very good.

In the second Portugal started a lot better in the defense and in the attack, but then the service began to fall. Yugoslavian players were excellent, not making many mistakes and won easily the second set.

The last one was a very good set played by Portugal. Manuel Silva was very good in the attack and Ubirajara Pereira and Luis Sousa were a lot better in blocking. Portugal was in a very good form getting the result to 25-25. But the Olympic Champions, with very good attack combinations didn't give Portugal any chances to win a set.
