Pesic announces candidates for EURO 2001

Belgrade, July 2 - Coach of Yugoslav national basketball team, Svetislav Pesic, named a preliminary 17-man squad for the 2001 Men's Basketball European Championships, which will be held from August 30 to September 9 in Turkey.

Dejan Bodiroga, Predrag Drobnjak, Milan Gurovic, Nikola Jestratijevic, Marko Jaric, Sasa Obradovic, Vladimir Radmanovic, Igor Rakocevic, Jovo Stanojevic, Predrag Stojakovic, Vlado Scepanovic, Dragan Tarlac, Dejan Tomasevic, Dejan Milojevic, Veselin Petrovic, Ratko Varda and Milos Vujanic.

Vlade Divac (Sacramento Kings), Aleksandar Djordjevic (Real Madrid) and Zeljko Rebraca (Panathinaikos) wanted to be left out of the squad for the EURO 2001. Pesic decided not to call on Miroslav Beric, MVP of the SuproLeague, because he wants to give a chance to younger players.
