Milosevic makes great comeback

Savo Milosevic

Zaragoza, SPAIN, January 27 (Reuters) - New signing Savo Milosevic bagged a brace as Zaragoza finally tasted victory, bringing to an end Rayo`s undefeated run of six games.

All eyes were on Zaragoza`s Yugoslavian striker, who returned to the Romareda in the week following an unhappy spell in Italy with Parma.

But Milosevic, who tore apart some of the Primera Division`s best defences the season before last, was hardly given a look-in as Rayo set about attacking Cesar Lainez`s goal from the whistle. And the Bosnia winger Elvir Baljic twice went agonizingly close to giving the side from Madrid a shock lead with less than a quarter-of-an-hour played.

Then, just when it looked as though Milosevic and Zaragoza were waking from their slumber, Baljic raced down the left and whipped in a centre which his fellow Bosnian Elvir Bolic headed past Lainez, stunning the Romareda.

After Rayo had missed several clear chances, Zaragoza`s Paraguayan midfielder Toro Acuna drilled a vicious free-kick through the Rayo wall to throw Luis Costa`s side a 52nd minute lifeline.

And the roof of the Romareda was raised in the 65th minute when Milosevic lost his marker inside the Rayo area and knocked the loose ball past Imanol Etxeberria.

The Yugoslavian struck again nine minutes later, following fine play by Santi Aragon, and it looked all over.

And although Michel Sanchez squeezed a shot inside the post five minutes from time to give Rayo hope, it was to be Milosevic`s night.
