Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, August 21 (AP) - Mladen Krstajic and Darko Kovacevic scored a goal each Wednesday as Yugoslavia beat Bosnia 2-0 in a friendly match watched by 10,000 fans.

The Bosnian team started the match aggressively, dominating just for the first few minutes before Yugoslavia recovered with several excellent straight shots on the goal.

Krstajic opened the scoring in the 34th minute off a pass from Sinisa Mihajlovic and Kovacevic, taking advantage of a defensive mistake, scored in the 41st minute from 10 meters (yards) to make it 2-0.

After the break, Yugoslavia dominated with several dangerous attacks. Bosnia also had a few scoring opportunities but failed to connect.

"For both teams, this is more than just a friendly match. This is like an introduction for us before the qualifying matches for the European championship that will start in a few weeks," Bosnia coach Blaz Sliskovic said.

Bosnian authorities deployed numerous police units because the match between the two countries - bitter enemies during Bosnia's 1992-1995 war - was considered to be a high security risk.

No incidents occurred during the game, but several hundred Bosnian fans clashed with about 200 police officers after the Yugoslav fans had been escorted out of the stadium by police. The Bosnian fans threw stones at the officers, lightly injuring three. Five fans were also slightly injured during the clash. All injured were treated on the scene.

Police dispersed the crowd after 10 minutes and detained at least eight fans.
