Partizan beats European champions

All Yugoslav water polo clubs advanced to the next round of the European clubs' competitions.

Having beaten defending European champions Olympiakos Piraeus from Greece 8-7 (2-3, 2-1, 0-1, 4-2) in the last match of the preliminary round of the European Champions Cup, Partizan clinched the first place and secured their spot in the Champions' Cup.

Jadran Herceg-Novi qualified for the Cupwinners' Cup quarterfinals, while Primorac Kotor, after three wins in qualifications, reached the LEN Cup next round.

Teams: Olympiakos Piraeus (GREECE), NCHZ Novaky (SLOVAKIA), Rapid "Intrarom" Bucharest (ROMANIA), Partizan Belgrade (YUGOSLAVIA)

Gameday 1: Olympiakos - Rapid 9-3 (3-1, 2-0, 2-0, 2-2), Partizan - Novaky 14-4 (4-1, 3-1, 3-1, 4-1).
Gameday 2: Partizan - Rapid 10-7 (3-1, 2-2, 2-1, 3-3), Olympiakos - Novaky 13-5 (2-1, 4-1, 2-2, 5-1)
Gameday 3: Partizan - Olympiakos 8-7 (2-3, 2-1, 0-1, 4-2), Novaky - Rapid 5-9 (0-2, 0-3, 3-2, 2-2).
