Dejan Bodiroga best Yugoslav athlete

Belgrade, December 24 - At the 46th annual awards of the Yugoslav sports daily "Sport", Barcelona's forward Dejan Bodiroga was announced as the best athlete in 2002. He was a captain of the national team that won gold medal at the 15th Men's World Basketball Championship in Indianapolis, United States. Bodiroga also won European champions' title with Greek Panathinaikos.

The other nominees were: Jelena Dokic (tennis), Andrija Zlatic (shooting), Danilo Ikodinovic (water polo), Darko Kovacevic (football), Ivan Miljkovic (volleyball), Milos Pavlovic (motorsports), Nenad Perunicic (handball), Predrag Stojadinov (karate) and Jovan Calic (bowling).

Ivan Kolic, winner of gold medal at the World Aeromodeling Championship, was voted the best young athlete.
