Book of Condolences - Local Dignitaries

(selected statements)

We have been together, in the same resistance movement, since the very beginning. Our two parties have had close ties ever since they were founded. We have been together until this tragic moment. But this is not the end.

Party of Vojvodina Reformers
and Miodrag Isakov

We, members of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro, are shocked by the heinous murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic and most severely condemn this loathsome crime.

We bid farewell to a genuine fighter for peace, democracy, and prosperity in Serbia.

May all glory and praise be unto you forever!

On behalf of Serbia and Montenegro Army
Serbia and Montenegro Army Chief of Staff, General Branko Krga

With deep and sincere anguish, I bid farewell to a wonderful man and a great politician whom I respected and admired.

Farewell Zoran.

Lepa Karamarkovic (Serbian Supreme Court President)

On behalf of the Constitutional Court of Serbia and my personal behalf, I express deep sorrow and indignation over the tragic death of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.

I am convinced that terrorism and violence will not succeed in Serbia, but instead a large democratic reform project on which helm was Prime Minister Djindjic.

Slobodan Vucetic (Serbian Constitutional Court President)

You were the bravest among us. Now, we shall continue the fight for Zoran's and our better and more beautiful Belgrade and Serbia.

Radmila Hrustanovic (Belgrade Mayor)

Rest assured that it will be the way You would want it. Mindless people will not stop us.

Nenad Bogdanovic (Belgrade City Hall executive board president)

You have always been our biggest confidence and hope. You always wanted us to be even better than we are. We will! We owe it to You!

Gorica Mojovic (Belgrade City Hall secretary of culture)

On behalf of the members and followers of the Civic Alliance of Serbia, as a sign of deep and sincere gratitude for all the years invested in realising the ideal of a free and democratic Serbia, the years we shared with him and all members of the Democratic Party, since our establishment until today.

Goran Svilanovic (Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs)

To my leader, comrade and the one who gave me energy.

Vojin Dimitrijevic

To my comrade and friend. We will continue.

Dragor Hiber

A man can be killed; not his work.

Aleksandar and Katarina (Serbian Prince and his wife)

I am proud for having been your choice.

Goca Matkovic (Serbian Minister of Social Affairs)

There is an empty space, herald of democracy and Serbia's European path! Thank you for understanding, support and help.

Tomica Milosavljevic (Serbian Minister of Health)

Never shall I forget the days I spent working with you. Rest in peace, my brave and diligent president.

Rodoljub Sabic (Serbian Minister of Local Self-Government)

We will not let you down. We will fight like you taught us to. May God bestow the peace of an angel unto you.

Goran Pitic (Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations)

Being part of your team was an honour. We will fight to fulfill all the promises we made to you the way you taught us. Rest in peace.

Marija Raseta (Serbian Minister of Transport and Telecommunications)

It was an honour to be chosen by you to be part of your team. It was an honour to be your friend!

Slobodan Milosavljevic (Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services)

We will continue to make true your vision of a modern, European Serbia.

Dragoslav Sumarac Minister of Construction and Urban Planning)

Dear Zoran, how can I express all the respect I feel for you? You were able to change history. You have started doing it. I hope that we will complete it. But without you, there can be no guarantee that reason will prevail in Serbia.

With love,

Kori Udovicki (Minister of Energy and Mining)

I will not talk about pain, because I have no words to describe it. But I will talk about the courage you had, about our mission to transform Serbia into a beautiful, modern and democratic country. My dear brother and friend, rest assured that we, your brothers and friends, will succeed in creating the Serbia of our dreams.

With love and respect your 'Leka'

Branislav Lecic (Minister of Culture and Public Information)

Dear friend, forgive me for not being there for you this time.

Dragan Milovanovic (Minister of Labour and Employment)

I am proud for having been part of your team! You were a true leader. Courageous, intelligent, analytical! Thank you for having had confidence in me. I will remain here to complete and make true our common dream with even more energy - Serbia: democratic, proud, developed, in Europe!

Alesksandar Vlahovic (Minister of Economy and Privatisation)

With his energy, enthusiasm and quest for a brighter future, Zoran Djindjic has left a permanent mark in Serbia's recent history. Whatever he did, he did it out of the deepest of beliefs. Unfortunately, his death is a tragic sign that our society is still far from being healed.

May he rest in peace.

Vojislav Kostunica (Former President of Yugoslavia)

To Zoran, the chief, the man who led my, and my children's, vision towards a happy and a European Serbia. I am honoured to have been chosen a part of his team. I am honoured and obligated to follow the agenda he left us.

He impressed everyone with his intelligence and humanity. Only now do I realise how important every moment and every word I shared with him were to me. Only now do I realise how much I and all of us loved him…

Thank you for everything. We will persevere in accomplishing the tasks you assigned to us.

Andjelka Mihajlov (Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection)

Serbia's most brilliant mind of all has gone, a pearl from her necklace.

Since Aristotle was not in the hall, Plato said: "The mind is not here, dear audience," and canceled the lecture.

He had everything to become part of history. He had will, courage, determination, reason, and a vision. Unfortunately, history takes its toll.

Dragoljub Micunovic (Chairman of the Serbia-Montenegro Parliament)

Zoran, we will carry on.

Gaso Knezevic (Minister of Education and Sport)

I came from far away to build a new Serbia together with you. I had confidence in you and trusted you. We had difficult times. You gave us strength and self-confidence with your positive energy. Unfortunately, you did so in a most tragic way, with your death. Yes, it makes us mad with anger, but it also makes us determined to complete your work even more quickly and efficiently, and without compromise - we will have a new, democratic and prosperous Serbia in Europe. We promise you that.

Dragan Domazet (Minister of Science, Technology and Development)

The pain is great, but determination is even greater. Goodbye my friend.

President of the Association of Free and Independent Trade Unions Ranka Savic
