Olivera Jevtic wins Rotterdam Marathon

Olivera Jevtic finishes the Rotterdam Marathon (Reuters)

Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS, April 13 - Olivera Jevtic won the women's race of the Fortis Rotterdam Marathon today.

Jevtic, running for Serbia and Montenegro, finished the Rotterdam Marathon, with a time of 2:25:23, almost a minute ahead of Hiromi Ominami of Japan.

Until 35 kilometres Japanese runner Hiromi Ominami was leading with around 15 seconds in hand over Olivera Jevtic.

However, in final seven kilometres Ominami faded a away and Jevtic came closer with every step. She finally passed Ominami and at 40kms was nearly half a minute in front, and was never again threatened, clocking a new national record.

Kenyan William Kiplagat was the men's winners of the Fortis Rotterdam Marathon.

The race came in sunny conditions and light winds with an almost ideal temperature of 57.
