World League 2003, Pool C, Week 4, Game 2: Cuba - Serbia-Montenegro 1-3 (20-25, 26-24, 23-25, 21-25)

Havana, CUBA, June 7 - Olympic and European champions Serbia and Montenegro, guided by Ivan "The Terrible" Milijkovic, completed a successful weekend in Cuba by beating the hosts for the second time in two days in Havana City.

The Balkan team once again took advantage of Cuba's failed serves (23 in total) to seal victory and move to the top of Pool C tied with Bulgaria.

In the opening set, the European squad took the early lead, but the young Cuban team managed to tie the score 14-14. Experienced visitors took advantage of their rivals' mistakes and won 25-20.

Led by the most talented Cuban players, Yasser Portuondo and Ariel Gil, Cuba won the second set 25-22.

Cuba made another good start in the third set taking a 9-4 lead, but their serve proved to be their weakest point and Miljkovic capitalised, taking his team to a 25-23 victory.

In the fourth quarter Cuba came close to tie-break by 20-17 lead. But they lost concentration and much-experienced guests won the set and match.

Havana, CUBA, June 6 - In the first World League duel between the two teams in two years, Ivan Miljkovic was an inspirational figure in Serbia and Montenegro's come back from 2-1 down to deny a young and enthusiastic Cuban side in a five-set marathon.

Riding on the support of their fans, Cuba won the first set 25-21. However, Serbia-Montenegro answered in the second set thanks to Ivan Miljkovic's spikes. Cuba didn't give up and convincingly won the third set with 25-17. Much-experienced Serbia and Montenegro used frequent serve errors of their rivals and won the following two sets.
