New York Knicks sign Slavko Vranes to contract

New York, July 23, 2003 (www.nba.com/knicks) - New York Knickerbockers President and General Manager Scott Layden announced today that second-round draft choice Slavko Vranes had been signed to a contract with the team and released from his contract with Buducnost in Serbia & Montenegro.

The 7-5, 260-pound center is participating in the team's entry at the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue from July 21-26 in Salt Lake City, UT and appeared in six games at the Reebok Pro Summer League from July 14-20, in Boston, MA. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vranes, 20, became the 39th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and had been a member of top European teams, including FMP Zeleznik (Serbia & Montenegro), Efes Pilsen (Turkey) and Buducnost (Serbia & Montenegro).
