Serbia&Montenegro - Poland 2-3

Karlsruhe, GERMANY, September 11 (www.volleyball2003.de) - Poland upset Pool I winner Serbia & Montenegro 3-2 and claimed a place in the final round of the European Championship. The Polish team needed the victory against the defending and Olympic champion in order not to be eliminated. The Polish team, number five in 2001, started well and took advantage of the fact that the Serbs were already sure of winning the pool. For example, Vladimir Grbic, who was in the starting line-up during all other four matches of this event, didn't start this time. For Poland the victory was very important. The upcoming team will be ranked fourth and will be the opponent of Germany on Saturday in the classification matches for the fifth till eight position.
