Police confiscate 140 kg of marijuana, four arrested

Belgrade, Nov 24, 2003 - Belgrade police and Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA) members seized almost 140 kilograms of marijuana and arrested four persons on suspicion of drug trafficking. One person is on the run, the Interior Ministry's Secretariat said yesterday.

The police arrested Sasa Suskavcevic (24) and Vukasin Mijovic (30) from Podgorica, Dragan Ristic (31) from Belgrade and Miodrag Senic (36) from Sutomore. The criminal group is suspected of illegal production, possession and sale of opiates. The four arrested members were handed over to the investigative judge of the Belgrade District Court. Dejan Virijevic (27) from Belgrade, also member of the group, is on the run.

The police confiscated 136.5 kilos of marijuana packed into 130 boxes as well as 141.8 grams of paracetamol and 0.63 grams of benzocaine. A 9 mm pistol was also found in Ristic's house, the statement reads.
