Zoran Djindjic foundation established

Belgrade, Dec 15, 2003 - The foundation carrying the name of the late Serbian Prime Minister, Zoran Djindjic, was established today at the Serbian government. The fund will award scholarships to talented students in politics, philosophy, economy and IT.

The initiators of the fund are the widow of the late prime minister Ruzica Djindjic, Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic, Minister of Social Affairs Gordana Matkovic, Minister of International Economic Relations Goran Pitic, Minister of Finance and Economy Bozidar Djelic, Minister of Economy and Privatisation Aleksandar Vlahovic and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic.

Prime Minister Zivkovic said that this fund is established nine months after Zoran Djindjic, the man who dedicated all his life to the democratic changes in Serbia, was killed. This fund will be a memorial to the late prime minister of Serbia and a contribution to the achievement of his ideas, that is, Serbia becoming a modern state, the leader in the Balkans and an important player in Europe, said Zivkovic.
