Melbourne, AUSTRALIA, January 21, 2004 - Serbia-Montenegro's Jelena Jankovic lost to Jill Craybas of United States, 4-6, 6-2, 6-8, in the second round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

On the opening day of the tournament 18-year-old Jankovic beat seventh seeded Russia's Elena Dementieva 6-1 6-4.
