Government adopts revitalisation programme for Zrenjanin sugar plant

Belgrade, Feb 12, 2004 - The Serbian government adopted a programme for the revitalisation of the Zrenjanin sugar plant at a session on Thursday.

Under the programme, the government will swap the 150 million dinars in the plant's liabilities to the Serbian Commodity Reserve Directorate into state-held equity.

As part of measures to raise production at the plant, the government asked the Serbian Development Fund to approve a 90 million dinar loan to the Zrenjanin company and the Ministry of Privatisation and Economy to subsidy the plant with 20 million dinars.

It also proposed that state power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) reschedule the plant's debts of 122 million dinars for a five-year period.

As part of the session, the government also adopted the National Action Plan for Children.
