January 2004 average salary reaches 17,500 dinars

Belgrade, Jan 23, 2004 - Serbia's average monthly gross salary in January 2003 declined 16.58 percent in nominal terms and 17.08 percent in real terms from a month earlier, to 17,498 dinars, the Serbian Statistics Office said in a statement.

The average monthly net salary was 12,078 dinars, down 16.86 percent and 17.36 percent in nominal and real terms respectively against December 2003, the statement said. Industrial sectors paid average monthly gross wages of 16,916 dinars, down 14.2 percent in nominal and 10.74 percent in real terms against December 2003. The average net salary in industrial sectors fell 10.32 percent and 10.85 percent in nominal and real term respectively, to 11,680 dinars.

Non-industrial sectors reported average gross wages of 18,944 dinars, down 28.09 percent in nominal and 28.52 percent in real terms respectively from the previous month. The average net wage in non-industrial sectors was 13,069, down 28.60 percent in nominal and 28.60 percent in real terms respectively.
