Store of firearms of disbanded OVPMB found

Belgrade, Feb 25, 2004 - The Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA) uncovered a store of firearms belonging to the disbanded Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac (OVPMB) in the village of Mali Trnovac in the Bujanovac municipality.

Members of the Albanian national army planned to use the hidden arms for carrying out terrorist attacks in southern Serbia, with the aim of undermining security in the province.

The BIA stated that this operation was carried out as part of activities for suppressing terrorist attacks in southern Serbia.

In the presence of an investigative judge, the Serbian public prosecutor and an OSCE representative, the police confiscated a large cache of arms and auxiliary military equipment.

The BIA will continue to prevent terrorist activities in southern Serbia.
